I had planned on fishing Piru Creek down in the gorge, belo Frenchmans Flat today, but the rain put a halt on that idea. So, not wanting to do nothing all day, I decided to go anyway. Rained hard most of the way up, and I stopped to take a look at Sespe Creek in Fillmore. The Sespe was running very muddy, but not outrageously high. I got to Piru, and took one look at the water, and knew I wouldn't be catching anything. I loaded up my gear, and headed for the dam, hoping to get some good raging water shots, or video of the creek spilling over the top of the dam at Pyramid. The water did clear some the closer I got to the dam, but visibility was about 4 inches near the last bridge. I fishe a little, not really able to do much, but figured that lightnig could strike. After about half an hour, I headed back downstream. I stopped at the pool below the "falls", and fished it a little. Then back on the road home. No action, but it felt good to get outside. Here is a pic of the "falls" in its full muddy glory.
