Date Fished: 05/10/03

East Fork of the San Gabriel River- Water run-off into the East Fork prevented us from fishing this water. The run-off would not prevent anyone from a nice hike, as the river was easily crossable. But, it appeared as if the probabiltiy of catching any fish would have been marginal. Give it a couple of weeks and fish it after the run-off water levels decline.

West Fork of the San Gabriel River- Fished the lower three miles of the West Fork. Fishing was slow at best. Attempted to fish with different patterns. Friends had the most success with olive bodied elk hair caddis flies. Fishing seemed to be better above Bear Creek, but was still very slow. The weather was warm, water was cold and there was a hatch occurring, but catching fish just wasn't happening. I don't have any answers on this one. Good luck!
